Dream On – My Lyrics Breakdown
POLL: What can I help you with?
I am an information junkie like many people out there. I consume and consume and consume, and I know more than enough to get a lot done so it's time to start.
I'd like your help though, answer my poll below so I can make sure I'm giving you the right stuff for what you need.
How To: Easily Create Memorable Affiliate Links with Thesis 1.7 and WordPress
Please click fullscreen to view the video in all it's hi-def glory.
I put together a quick video on how to make easy to remember affiliate links using a new feature in Thesis 1.7(aff). For me this puts this theme over the top because of how easy it is to do and how handy it is to create an affiliate link like this so you don't have to worry about all those messy affiliate links causing lost commissions. It also helps me keep my affiliate links organized no matter what site it's from. You can learn more about Thesis by going to http://diythemes.com
When it comes to sharing a product with someone, I always offer them the direct link and then ask if they wouldn't mind using my link. Nine times out of ten, they will happily use my link. And if I am on the phone with them it is much easier to spell out a simplified link using this method than it is to spell out one of the links with all the crazy numbers and such.
I would appreciate it if you clicked on my affiliate link to check out Thesis. Also please leave a comment below and let me know what other things you would like to learn. I am just getting started with video and had a lot of fun making this one even though it is pretty simple.
Finding Your Passion
A common theme that many success speakers teach is that you have to work your passion and profit from it to be successful. I can definitely agree that you have to love what you do to really be satisfied with your life. The word passion always scared me a little though, because there are a lot of things that I enjoy a lot, and I don’t feel like it’s anything I could give up everything else for though. I recently met Derek Sivers(founder of cdbaby.com) at a conference(LessConf) and I had never really heard of him until that day. So what do I do? The same thing I do with any “big time” person I meet, I look them up on google. Well it turns out he has a blog and the post that he had written the day before was exactly what I needed to see at that time. You can read it here and I will give a brief summary as well.
Don’t just think in terms of “passion” or “purpose” because for people like me it can seem very overwhelming. Instead find something you like/enjoy and dig a little deeper into it. If that still seems ok, keep going. Maybe you will get to a point where you don’t enjoy it that much. Just before that point could be the level you are meant to be at or it could be a signal that it is time to dig into something else.
So as I am a big time gamer, I read a lot of MMO news. It’s something I do every day and I enjoy. So I have decided to make a daily vid-cast that sums up the day’s MMO news. This was a combination of inspiration from both Gary Vaynerchuk (for finding my passion and just telling everyone about it) and Derek Sivers (for chaning my views on the passion/purpose issue and helping me to take the chance). You can see my progress with it at MMO Recap. Let me know what you think in the comments, and tell me what things you are going to dig a little deeper into.
The Big Idea: Gaming Books for Real Life
While I was at seminar 2 weeks ago I had a great idea. And I think I’m just going to share them with the world as I have them. If I keep them to myself and don’t act on them I won’t have as many great ones. If I keep putting them out there though and act on a few, I will continue to have many more ideas. So here it is!
Gaming Books For Real Life
Most of the gaming geeks out there have either played Dungeons & Dragons or at least have an idea about how it works. Why not have books that make real life and business into a game and make it fun.
Core Rulebook
This will be about how to have the right mindset to play in this game we call life. It will have tips on what you can do to change the way you think and the rules you should follow and use to have massive experience gain.
There will also be a few core classes with the basics on how to “play” as them such as Small Business Owner, Real Estate Investor, Public Speaker and some others.
Each class will have certain repeatable milestones which will give you “experience” and that will lead to “leveling up.”
Class Books
Each core class will have it’s own book which goes into much more detail on how to succeed in that particular business with more details on how you can gain “experience” as well.
Companion Seminars
There will also be seminars that coincide with the books that will be about how you can team up with other “classes” to form a “party.” This is because it is so much easier to make money and succeed in life as a team than as an individual. Everyone has their strengths and can do great things, and when they team up with others, the results don’t add, they multiply.
There could also be Level Up seminars where in order to get into them you have to prove the amount of “experience” you have gained, either through paychecks or some other measurement.
Can you make this happen?
I am going to slowly work on this, and you are welcome to take the idea and run with it as well. I would love to be your first buyer. There are millions of ideas out there so they are a dime a dozen. The real money is in execution and if you can make this happen please contact me and I’d love to work with you on it. I’m learning how to do public speaking right now and I think the Companion Seminars would be amazing.
What are some of your huge ideas?
Procrastination
I have some major issues with procrastination and I’m working on getting over them so here is a list of some of the things I’m trying.
- Afformations – Ask yourself empowering questions to stop procrastinating and get things done right away. Then give yourself to the question and actively seek an answer. Here are some examples. Why am I doing the right things right now? Why do I enjoy getting things done early so often? Why do I get so much done in so little time?
- Break it down – Break the tasks down into easily completed and manageable chunks. If you are like me you can really only do this with one task at a time because I get distracted easily. But as soon as I get the initial pieces in place I start working on it and I can immediately see progress which motivates me to do more.
- Practice – Keep working at getting things done a bit at a time. The more often you are productive the more it will become a habit. It’s going to take a lot of conscious effort at first, but eventually it will become second nature.
Mixergy.com
Mixergy.com: This blog came out of nowhere for me. I can’t even remember where I found it but I love it. One of Andrew’s goals is to be the Napoleon Hill of our time and I think he is doing an amazing job of it. He interviews of some of the most successful entrepreneurs and posts the videos of them. I’ve loved every single one of them. Please go check him out and let both Andrew and I know what you thought of them.
Masterminds
I recently finished listening to the audiobook of The Success Principles by Jack Canfield and it was a great book. It renewed in me the need to be in a great mastermind. Just about every successful person I know is involved with at least one mastermind. So my first one I would like to start is one with local people who are ambitious but in various fields of expertise. Luckily there are some great tools out there to help you get one started including The Success Principles Website.
Are you in a mastermind yet? Do you find them valuable? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
