Procrastination

by Adam Teece on July 8, 2009

I have some major issues with procrastination and I’m working on getting over them so here is a list of some of the things I’m trying.

  1. Afformations – Ask yourself empowering questions to stop procrastinating and get things done right away. Then give yourself to the question and actively seek an answer. Here are some examples. Why am I doing the right things right now? Why do I enjoy getting things done early so often? Why do I get so much done in so little time?
  2. Break it down – Break the tasks down into easily completed and manageable chunks. If you are like me you can really only do this with one task at a time because I get distracted easily.  But as soon as I get the initial pieces in place I start working on it and I can immediately see progress which motivates me to do more.
  3. Practice – Keep working at getting things done a bit at a time.  The more often you are productive the more it will become a habit.  It’s going to take a lot of conscious effort at first, but eventually it will become second nature.
